Trip Description
First, you live in the city – experiencing firsthand the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of urban life. Our housing will be in the heart of Los Angeles within walking distance to local ethnic restaurants.
Second, you learn about the city – unique issues and problems that the dwellers of Los Angeles face and what God is doing to foster and further His Kingdom in the city, through the local organizations that operate on the front lines of urban ministry.
Third, you become part of the solutions for the city – by offering your time, energy and sweat as you support these "ministry sites."
Our Partner
CSM is a short-term mission organization that provides trips into urban centers throughout North America. CSM partners with local ministries and places full-time, year-round staff in each city.
Some of CSM’s partners in Los Angeles include:
Faith in Christ is a church located in South Central Los Angeles. They welcome the poor and oppressed in their neighborhood and provide a range of ministries, including food distribution, weekly "Sidewalk Breakfasts", and a variety of tutoring and Bible club ministries for neighborhood children.
The Midnight Mission has been serving the Skid Row community since 1914 with emergency shelter, food and clothing, as well as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Working alongside the men of the Midnight, CSM groups hear stories and learn first hand the damage of addiction to drugs, while at the same time seeing examples of incredible strength in the men who are working to overcome these addictions.
Alegria is a Salvation Army transitional housing facility and program for families who have become homeless as a result of HIV/AIDS.
