Small Groups

Small Groups help students grow spiritual and feel loved just as they are. Through bible studies, various topics and spiritual practices, students will have opportunities to know their Christian identity, grow in Christ-like character, and go out to express their faith in action towards friends, campus, city, and world.

Small Groups start the week of February 13th. Click here to see a list of small groups, when they meet, and to sign up!  Then pick your first and second choice.  You’ll be contacted by the leader.  All groups of co-ed. If you have any questions, contact Sue Braun sbraun@northpark.edu

Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts – Sue Braun
Mondays, 4-6pm
This group will help you to find your spiritual gifts (“what” you’re equipped to do to serve competently), your personal style (“how” you can best serve to serve authentically) and your serving passion (“where” you’re motivated to serve enthusiastically).  This will be fun, interactive and only 3 weeks long!

Spiritual Disciplines – Jessie Chambers
Tuesdays, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
This group is an introduction to spiritual disciplines. We will explore a different spiritual discipline each week (such as prayer, fasting, solitude, simplicity, etc.) as we discuss what spiritual disciplines are and why Christians practice them. We will look to Richard Foster’s Celebration of Discipline for guidance while we attempt to practice a new discipline each week and share our experiences with each other.

The Life & Teaching of Jesus – David Chambers
Wednesdays, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
I am consistently surprised and amazed when I take the time to look at the things Jesus did and said. He often seems to say or do things that don't quite fit with popular Christianity. This group will investigate and discuss various aspects of Jesus' life and teaching. We'll especially spend time on aspects that are challenging and/or don't seem to make sense to us. The direction this takes will be determined by the group as we explore the life of Jesus together. Whether you've been a follower of Jesus for years or days or still aren't sure what you think of him, this study should be a challenging and encouraging experience.

Life After College – Cathy Kaminski
Thursdays, 4:00pm – 5:30pm
From the practicalities to the theoretical logistics of a post-college life, this group is about getting together and talking through the issues.  We will gather in my apartment to drink tea or coffee and be open to figuring out how to transition after graduation.  How do you find a church and a fellowship to be a part of?  What about making a budget and finding a job?  This will be a small group that looks to the future and seeks to support and pray for one another as college life comes to a close.  This is a co-ed group that is discussion based and open to all seniors.  I hope you can join me!

Christianity & War – Mike Bingeman
Thursdays, 7:30pm – 9:30pm

This group will discuss the Christian response to war, military involvement, and conscientious objection. We will ask questions like: When, if ever, is war an acceptable means to an end? Does the manner in which war is waged mean anything? Is the Church obliged to comment, inte
