Small Group Reflection
By Michelle Wells -
The four of us tiptoe into the gym where the basketball game is already going on. With seven total in our small group, there are many different activities and areas of interests we are involved in so we try and incorporate these in what we do. Tonight was our scheduled night for small group, but since two of the girls had this basketball game, the group came to them. It has become important to be together not because we have to but because we want to. Almost every week our scheduled time flies by and we have to drag ourselves away because of the homework beckoning us.
No two weeks have been the same. Some are spent pouring through the book of Philippians, others are spent entirely listening to each other’s stories, and the next attending North Park events. A Friday not too long ago, we all made dinner and then went to Friday Night Homeless Ministries. Another day we spent watching movies and just being with each other as we remembered the anniversary of a family member’s death. I can’t predict what this next semester will bring, but I also can’t adequately express how excited I am for it.
This is my first year leading a small group and I really didn’t know what to expect, especially with my own varied experiences of small groups. What I definitely didn’t expect was finding six good friends.
