On Sunday October 27th from 12:30pm to 7:45pm we are hosting a training for Advocacy for Victims of Abuse (AVA). This is a specific nonprofit started by the Evangelical Covenant Church. The AVA director will be in town and is hosting the training for us. The training is being funded by University Ministries, the Seminary, and Church Relations offices. It is free to students to participate and is open to 30 students only.
Below is as description of who should participate in the training:
“Primarily, you are looking for two types of people, I think. One are those headed for ministry of any kind—and who need to be aware of the realities they will be facing (and perhaps have already faced) with regard to sexual abuse or domestic violence. You can help them to see that this free training is something that will equip them now during their time at NPU, and in the future as they continue their preparation and eventually launch into ministry.
Another group would be those interested in cultural issues and/or women’s issues. Social work majors, sociology majors, psychology majors, etc. These people would benefit from the AVA training by gaining important information and practical ideas they can use as they move forward in their training and in their careers. “
