The sports ministry at NPU exists to help student-athletes learn how to integrate their faith into their sport and every aspect of their lives.  Our desire is to engage every student-athlete at NPU with the transforming power of the Gospel so that they may:

·      Discover and develop a vibrant relationship with Jesus,

·      Experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives,

·      Be inspired and equipped to work for justice and extend mercy as they reach out to those around them with the Gospel.

·      Reach their full potential—not just as athletes—but as people who have a unique contribution to make to better our city and world.

The Locker Room:

The Locker Room is a place where faith, life, and sport meet. In a laid back, interactive, and safe environment, student athletes can explore with their peers what it means to integrate faith in Christ into every area of their lives—including their sport—through relevant bible teaching and meaningful interactions with their peers. There is always lots of free food and snacks, opportunities to form meaningful relationships with other Vikings athletes, some friendly competition to make things interesting, and occasional visits from other professional and collegiate athletes who are on the same journey of faith. The Locker Room is definitely the place to be for Vikings athletes on Tuesday nights!!!

Team studies: Student led, staff driven. While team chaplains may initiate studies, the goal is to have at least 1-2 student athletes on every team large enough to support one lead a study among their teammates. The groups are intended to provide a safe environment for student athletes to go deeper into personal and spiritual issues so that they can develop a vibrant relationship with Jesus.

One-to-one discipleship: Provided by individual team chaplains, or by the Head Athletic Chaplain on teams without a team chaplain to provide student-athletes with the support they need to grow towards spiritual maturity.

Personal and spiritual counseling: Provided by the Head Athletic Chaplain and individual team chaplains to meet the socio-emotional and spiritual needs of student-athletes at NPU.
